Lily Nguyen, is one of the 930,000 people who arrived in Australia as refugees post-World War II. In the late 1970s, Lily was a baby carried by her mother on a perilous journey from war-torn Vietnam to Malaysia and eventually to Australia. Now a respected lawyer, Lily’s leadership reflects the power of family and community in nurturing leadership, a common thread throughout her narrative which affirms how leadership purpose often stems from deep-rooted values and the influence of the collective around us.
